Sunflower Seed Pate With Veggies

sunflower seed pateThis is a family favorite, which I started feeding my kids when they were almost a year old.

Blend the following ingredients:

  • 1 clove garlic (can add more if not feeding to babies)
  • 1 tbsp dulse flakes
  • 2 cups sunflower seeds (soaked for at least six hours in water, then rinsed)
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice (roughly 2 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup water, as needed

Mix in the following ingredients:

  • 2 carrots (shredded)
  • 1/2 bunch chopped parsley
  • 1 green onion onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 stalks chopped celery

  • a dash of black pepper
  • additional salt (the dulse flakes add some salt)
  • chili powder or cajun seasoning

The pate makes a great filling for greens, such as kale, collards, nori sheets, orĀ lettuce.
