My family and I are interested in joining a rural intentional community. We spent the last week visiting Earthaven, a community of 60 members located 30 miles east of Ashville. The community was founded in 1994 on 320 lush, forested acres with springs and creeks running through the property. It is not connected to the power grid and they obtain electricity from solar panels and a micro-hydro system.
Our curiousity was met by friendly villagers, who opened their homes to us. Below are some photos of the community and its many earthen dwellings.
